30.11.2013 Not Too Long Now

Its been few weeks since we visited our house. Its really hard when the house is locked and you cannot see for yourself as to what stuff have been completed.I did get a message this week that our painting has finished. We dropped in to the house today and had a peek through the windows.

The house looks great and the wall colour makes the house look bright and airy.  All the electrical work has also been  completed. The bathroom accessories have been installed and the kitchen is completed too, except for the splash back. The rainwater tank is slowly getting done with all the gadgets getting installed. Our study desk is in place and we are really happy with the stained doors. Our mohogany basswood shutters with just go great with the stained doors.

Hoping to hear the final date from our supervisor. I hope its before Christmas.

15.11.2013 Internal Update

As I wrote in my last post that tiling was completed and painting had started. I went for a visit to the house today and met up with our site supervisor. I was really happy with the tiling job and it looks great. The vanities have also been installed and they blend in well with the tiles. The ensuite and the second bathroom have had the Caesarstone bench top installed. We went with Atlantic Salt and it looks good.

I was most anxious to see our kitchen bench tops. The guys were in the final process of getting the bench installed.

OMG ….it looks great. The kitchen has come alive. Believe me the picture do not do justice but it looks great. The kitchen bench is Caesarstone Osprey and will look great when all our light fixtures and downlights are installed.

I was also surprised to see that the entire house had its first coat of paint completed already. Our internal wall colour is Taubmans Phantom Dream and that too looks good. The supervisor was going through his checks and marking walls and areas that needed fixing. He will be getting the gyprock guys to come fix the plastering and other bits and pieces before the final coat.

I spoke to him about the handover and he reckons he will be in better shape to tell me by the end of November. He is pushing for before Christmas handover which was great to hear. Fingers cross we might be lucky…..

15.11.2013 Tiling Complete

I have been so busy at work off late that I never got a chance to update the blog.

So the news is that our tiling got completed on Monday and and the painters were in on Tuesday. I am yet to see the final result. I hope it all looks good. I am guessing kitchen should have also been completed. Cant wait to see the finished product with 40mm ceaserstone bench.

I thought we were on track for handover before Christmas but there is only a slim chance of us getting a handover. Our bank sent us a letter stating that if our handover is before Christmas they need to have the final invoice sent to them by 6th December. I spoke to our CLO who upon confirming with the supervisor told me that our handover will most probably be after Christmas as there is only a slim possibility of completion before Christmas.

I am really annoyed now with MJH. We had planned everything around handover before Christmas. Oh well gives us few extra weeks to save some  extra cash!!!

6.11.2013 Kitchen and Tiling Update

I met up with the tiler this morning to check the colour of the grouting. We had no issues there as the information he got was correct from our colour selection. Our wet area floors were already to be tiled. The work looks good with all tiles laid out really straight. I am guessing he will still be there until next week to finish the job.

Kitchen has now been installed and looks good. The actual finish product will be heaps better with 40mm bench to entire kitchen with waterfall edges to the bench. We have also gone with soft close drawers and cupboards.

I also received an invoice for Progress Payment 5. This is the second last of the six payments. The final and sixth payment will at handover. Things are looking really promising and it’s not too far that we will be finished.

Cant wait !!!

3.11.2013 Kitchen and Tiling

We were at lockup stage last week. Since then heaps of things have been happening. Our internal doors and built-in wardrobe doors are all completed. All the architraves have also been completed.

Our Front door is from the Nexus range and is called MDJ4 . We have gone with Omni TriLock which will look great. We have gone with stained finish.

Laundry door is also stained and is JST1 with translucent glazing. Master, Pantry and Media room have all got LIN1 doors with stained finished. All other internal doors will be from standard range.

The Rain Water tank has also arrived and has been installed along with all the downpipes. The colour we have chosen is “DUNE” which blends in well with the bricks.

All wet areas have been waterproofed with tiling to be completed this week. All the tiles have been delivered and so are the kitchen and vanities for the bathroom. This should all be completed this week too. Our garage door is also looking great. We had the feeling that it might not go well with the bricks and we were getting it changed to timber look after handover. We might put that idea on hold.

I couldn't take many pictures as we don’t have the luxury now to walk inside. I took some pictures through the windows.

3.11.2013 Progress Payment Delayed

We haven’t had any issues with any of our Progress Payments and our bank has been really quick to get the valuer out to the check the building progress and release the funds. Usually McDonald Jones sends me an invoice by email and I just forward it to the bank with my authority to pay. Our Progress Payment 4 invoice was never sent to us in an email and we got that on the last day of the due date in mail. I rang our CLO and explained her that the invoice was received on due date and it cannot be paid on time. She just extended our dates with no issues and the bank took care of the rest.
